1 Locust Place Another Colts Neck Home Sold By The Ten Hoeve Realty Group

On March 31, 2017 the Schatzle family’s original Zimmerer home located at 1 Locust Place in Colts Neck sold for $497,000, ushering in a changing of the guard. When Walter Zimmerer began construction of the more than 1,400 homes he eventually completed between Colts Neck and Holmdel, he focused on the Clover Hill area of Colts Neck. A forerunner of zoning restrictions, he was in favor of one-acre minimum zoning. Zimmerer’s signature is seen all over Colts Neck and Holmdel in his standard colonial, ranch, and raised ranch (bi-level) style homes. 


The Schatzle Family’s residence at 1 Locust was Zimmerer’s model home for the raised ranch option he planned to build throughout the town. When the Schatzles moved from The Enclosure to Locust Place, they planned to stay, and did. The home was in the family for more than 40 years and became the primary residence for a second generation of the Schatzle family in the early 2000s. Over the years, the house underwent many changes, while still retaining it’s characteristic Zimmerer charm, including the solid six-panel doors, dental crown moulding, and steel beam construction. 


When it came time to move within Colts Neck to a home that better suited their growing needs the Schatzles turned to top Colts Neck and Monmouth County area REALTORs, The Ten Hoeve Realty Group. Once they had located and contracted to purchase the Schatzle Family’s new residence, DJ and Nici Ten Hoeve accepted the challenge of finding the next owner of 1 Locust Place to pass the torch to. 


After taking advice from our team, the Schatzle Family spent weeks decluttering, purging, and finally selling items at a tag sale. The home was listed on December 15, 2016. Just over a month after it was listed for sale, an as-is offer was accepted. Representing the buyer was another Keller Williams Realty East Monmouth real estate agent, Carmelo Morabito. All parties to the transaction worked well to steward the sale from contract to closing, which took place on March 31, 2017. 


Mr. Schatzle was represented legally by Meghan Chrisner-Keefe, Esq. at Russell Macnow Attorney at Law, LLC from Colt Neck and his Realtors Nicole “Nici” Ten Hoeve and David “D.J.” Ten Hoeve. The buyer was represented legally by Michael Pugliese, Esq. out of Red Bank and by Keller Williams agent Carmelo Morabito. Funding for the home purchase was handled by Michael Brunner of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. The buyers’ title work was handled by Nicole Cusick of Red Bank Title Agency.
