Having lived in Manhattan for 12 years before moving to the suburbs and raising our family here, I have pretty high standards to live up to. Here are some of my favorite places around the area. Bakery
The Bakers Grove
My favorite bakery is The Baker’s Grove located at the Grove in Shrewsbury, NJ. I absolutely adore this small neighborhood bakeshop that sells hand-crafted pastries and desserts. Not only is everything delicious, but the display of the baked goods is so beautiful that you can feel how special this place is from the moment you walk in.
Bagel Shop
Bagelmasters
Having lived in NYC for 12 years, I have extremely high expectations for a good bagel. I have come to really enjoy the bagels made at Bagel Masters located on Broad Street in Shrewsbury, NJ. My children and I frequent this bagel shop on a weekly basis. We love that their bagels have a nice crunchy outside with a soft inside and they are always fresh! They also have a nice sandwich menu to select from if you are looking for something different. My favorite is the Masters Melt on a scooped out sesame bagel!
Restaurants
Birravino & The Greek Spot
My family’s top go-to restaurants are Birravino and The Greek Spot that are both located in Red Bank, NJ. We have found that both of these restaurants have remained consistent in offering great service and food over the years. Whether you are dining in or taking out, these are both very reliable restaurants where we have always enjoyed a delicious meal.
Park
Hartshorne Woods Park
Hartshorne Woods Park is a favorite for walks with my husband, 2 children and our dog. We love visiting this park on the weekends for a long walk. Not only is this park known for its historical significance, but it offers beautiful views overlooking the Navesink River and the Atlantic Ocean.
Local Shops
Trademark Boutique & Cabana 19
After living in NYC for many years, I am always looking for those special little boutique shops that have something different to offer. I really enjoy visiting Trademark Boutique located in Little Silver, NJ. This is a small women’s shop that carries a nice selection of clothing where you can find something special that’s not from the typical big store. I also love Cabana 19 and their new children’s shop Locker 19 both located on White Street in Red Bank, NJ. Both shops offer a nice selection of gift items, fun accessories, home decor and monogramming (which I adore!!).
Places to visit
Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ. I spend a great deal of time at Bell Works both on my own and with my children. Bell Works has so much to offer… whether it’s going for a weekly work-out at Bar Method, visiting the Wednesday Fresh Market, stopping in for a coffee at Booskerdoo or getting my hair colored at Salon Concrete, there is always something to do and I feel so lucky to have this one-of-a-kind historic destination in my community.
